Soft Virginia Rain

 - Halper (c. 1999)

Sun goes down on small Virginia town,
Not another living soul around.
She rests her weary head behind the clouds
And goes to bed without a sound.
This silent picture soothes my gentle heart
Just like the soft Virginia rain.

Her nervous laughter with the wind,
Will keep me coming back both time and time again.
Her sense of humor with the Fall,
Will change my colors one and all.
Shy smiles like hers are hard to find
Just like the soft Virginia rain.

Just when I find her I've got to go.
She turns her chilling rain right into snow.
Smokey Mountains where I think I'll go,
Will she follow? I don't know.
These tears I cry for her are beautiful
Just like the soft Virginia rain.
